A production of The Present Company

New York, NY - The Ume Group is proud to present their newest world premier project, ISIS VARIATIONS as part of the 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC.

The company hailed by The Village Voice for "commanding, physically impressive performances" is returning to FringeNYC after a three year hiatus.  Noted for their “beautiful and disturbing” (nytheatre.com) martial-arts / butoh dance epic, BUTOH ELECTRA, which marked their FringeNYC debut in 2011, The Ume Group is now set to begin a brand new butoh-driven physical theatre odyssey called ISIS VARIATIONS.  Drawing on their shared practice of yoga, dance, gymnastics, butoh, and martial arts, an ensemble of four dancer/choreographers will invoke the spirit of the Egyptian goddess Isis to discover the mythic "home" in each of us.

The show is created and performed by Dave Herigstad, Marie Putko, Jordan Rosin, and Yokko with lighting design by Derek Van Heel.
