ABOUT THE UME GROUP'S TRAINING ENSEMBLE
The Ume Group's Training Ensemble program is a 3-month long weekly course consisting of teaching, learning, and ensemble driven creative components. Members of the training ensemble will receive free training in a variety of physical disciplines ranging from butoh and gymnastics to yoga and commedia del arte.
On the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, they join members of The Ume Group's growing learning community in their free and interdisciplinary "Open Training" sessions, serving both as participants and once each quarter as a guest teacher. On the alternate Tuesdays, the ensemble meets to create and refine short works of physical theatre revolving around a central theme and/or utilizing a new and specific creative process. Every three months the central themes and core creative process change. Each quarter culminates in an informal showcase & potluck at The Ume Group's rehearsal space on the Upper West Side.
SUMMER 2014
This quarter will focus on the "Commedia" and will be led by Ume Group Training Ensemble Alumna Fabio Motta. Fabio began his theatrical training at the Accademia Teatrale Veneta (Venice, Italy) where he completed a master in Commedia Dell'Arte . He furthered his studies at the prestigious 16th Street Actors Studio (Melbourne, Australia), and has returned from France after working with Clown Master, Philippe Gaulier at The Ecole Philippe Gaulier.
