This workshop will be a taste of Ashley's semester long course "Movement for the Actor." Students will learn about Rudolf Laban's theory of movement using Body, Effort, Shape, and Space. Students will explore themselves as well as creating physical characters through this method of practice. Ashley also specializes in somatic movement using Irmengard Bartenieff's Basic 6, which will be taught to help movement efficiency of the actor's body.

About the Instructor
Ashley is a performer, choreographer, and movement specialist originating from Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Wagner College as a Theatre Performance major/Dance minor, after graduating from the Youth Performing Arts School with a Dance major/Musical Theatre minor. In 2013, she completed her certification of movement analysis (CMA) at the Laban and Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies and will graduate with her MS in Kinesiology from Arizona Still University in 2018. She has completed training in YogaTune Up and Meisner Acting Technique. She is currently on staff at Wagner College teaching classes such as Jazz III, Jazz IV, Ballet I, Ballet II, Movement for the Actor, Musical Theatre Styles, Stretch and Fitness and Anatomy and Kinesiology. Ashley's performance & choreographic highlights include: Mac-Haydn Theatre, Reagle Music Theatre, Derby Dinner Playhouse, Music Theatre of Louisville, and the NYC Fringe Festival.
