About the Workshop
In The Ume Group's June 2016 Physical Theatre Intensive, participants will be exposed to the creative techniques and disciplines underlying The Ume Group's original show, Dream Dances.
Participants will be asked to bring in 2-3 journal entries about dreams that they've had. Over the course of the weekend workshop, you will learn to use the techniques of butoh dance, acrobatics, devised theatre, and ensemble play to bring your dream to life!
Each day of the workshop will begin with a discussion and meditation, then proceed to vigorous warm-up and physical conditioning, followed by highly accessible and action-driven lessons in acrobatics, butoh dance, & devising from The Ume Group's very own Producing Artistic Director, Jordan Rosin.
The workshop will culminate in the creation of vivid theatrical sketches which capture the essence of your very own dreams, which will be performed for the public at a performance and party on Sunday, June 12 at 7:30pm. (Participation in the performance is encouraged, but not required and limited to those participating in Sunday's workshop and/or all three days.)
