Freeing the Voice through Yoga, Qi Gong, and Dance
Soma Voice is an experiential workshop for singers, actors, and musicians to arrive fully in their body in order to free their instrument. The workshop uses yoga, breathing exercises, qi gong, dance, and other forms of body movement awareness to open the energy channels in the body, to feel grounded and centered, to get out of the mind and into the feeling body, and to ultimately find one's fullest and deepest creative expression in a safe environment.
From this workshop singers, musicians, and actors will:

About the Instructor
Marie Putko holds her Masters in Music in Vocal Performance and her Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University. Marie currently teaches Yoga at New York University, and "Yoga for Singers" for the Musical Theater and Classical Voice Workshops at NYU. She is a certified Kripalu Yoga dance teacher and leads meditations for NYU's Mindfulness Project.
She was a member of The Ume Group's Fall 2013 Training Ensemble and was a part of The Ume Group's Performance Company from 2013 - 2014 during which time she helped create and perform Isis Variations (Cool NY Dance Festival, FringeNYC, Grace & St. Paul's Church).
