The Ume Group School: Vocal Warmup

Come learn Linklater-style vocal warm-up techniques from Yokko!  Learn to open your vocal channel, as well as find your true voice and expression.

About the Instructor

Yokko holds an MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School as well as a BA in Theatre from SUNY Albany.  She also studied at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA and regularly teaches movement & butoh in The Ume Group's Open Training program. She has taught physical theatre workshops, yoga classes, movement classes, and Japanese performing arts in MFA programs, community classes, and local schools in OR, CA and NY.  She holds the RYT300 yoga teacher certification from the Yoga Alliance, and is on her way to her RYT500 certification as a yoga therapist.  She began studying Linklater Technique in 2009 at Shakespeare and Company, then with Rebecca DuMaine Miller, Susan Main, Corinna May, and Louis Colaianni at The Actros Studio Drama School MFA program. She has also studied movement with Merry Conway and Shakespeare at the Linklater Center for Voice & Language. Yokko has been performing her solo show BALDY around the US including an Off-Broadway festival engagement in 2013. She is currently observing and mentoring with Andrea Haring at the Linklater Center for Voice & Language.
